About this part
Twelve amps at four hundred volts through a single diode, in the DO-4 stud package that was the standard answer for power rectification before bridge modules made the job disappear into a block. The package is also catalogued as DO-203AA, which is the same thing under the later naming, and knowing both saves an argument with a parts search that only recognises one.
The stud is doing two jobs. It bolts the diode to a chassis or heatsink so the junction heat has somewhere to go, and it carries one of the two connections, so whatever it bolts to is electrically part of the circuit. That single fact catches people out on old equipment: an isolated mounting pad, an insulating washer and a shouldered bush are often what stands between the rectifier and a short to the chassis.
One is on the shelf. Mounting hardware varies between pieces in this batch and what is present is shown in the photographs, so look before you order if you need a specific washer stack. The threads are clean with no marks from a nut, and the body carries no witness ring where it would have seated. It has never been mounted in anything.
Questions about this part
Is DO-4 the same as DO-203AA?
Yes. DO-203AA is the later designation for the same stud outline. Both names are given here because a parts search will often recognise only one of them and reject the other as an unknown package.
Is the stud electrically live?
Yes. The stud is one of the two connections, not just a fixing. Anything it bolts to becomes part of the circuit, so on a grounded chassis you need an isolated pad or an insulating washer and shouldered bush unless the design intends that connection to be at chassis potential.
What mounting hardware comes with it?
It varies across this batch, so what is present is in the photographs rather than in a blanket claim. If you need a particular washer stack or lug, ask before ordering and we will tell you exactly what is on the piece that would ship.
How do I know it is not a pull from equipment?
The threads carry no marks from a nut being run down them and there is no witness ring on the seating face. A diode that has been torqued into a heatsink shows both, and they do not polish out.
